Castle Nuovo, a medieval castle in the middle of Naples

It is a strange view, a medieval castle from the 13th century in the middle of the city of Naples. From the side of the harbour it looks like a simple structure, strong and boring. However, on the side of the city centre, you find the entrance. The white entrance is a day and night contradiction to the simples towers. The victory arch was designed by Francesco Laurana and the white middle piece is decorated with detailed sculptures. You can compare it to a beautiful white lady surrounded by strong black knights.

  4. I love your description of a beautiful white lady surrounded by black knights, that's just what it is. So huge and imposing, almost fearful. Did royalty live here? Perhaps a ruling dynasty of some sort? You got wonderfully descriptive pictures!!
